Cheers! Mocktails For The Festive Season

Don’t let your fit pregnant Christmas consign you entirely to sparkling water and orange juice! 

Check out these delicious alcohol-free cocktails for pregnant women.

We asked our friends at Borrago to share some of their alcohol-free cocktail recipes….perfect for Mammas-to-be and full of distinct and very grown up flavours.  If you’ve not come across it before, Borrago #47 Paloma Blend is a non-alcoholic spirit full of complex flavours that makes an easy replacement for gin or vodka. In fact these guilt-free cocktails are soooo full of grown up flavours, we guarantee you won’t miss the alcohol!

Pink Lady

We love this this long, delicious, sparkling cocktail for pregnant women, not least because it comes in FittaMamma pink!   Super easy.

  • One part Borrago #47 Paloma Blend
  • Three parts Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic (the pink one)
  • A handful of ice in a tumbler
  • A sprig of basil
  • Quartered orange slices

Method:

Pour the Borrago over the ice, top up with the tonic and slip in the slices of orange. Clap the basil between your hands to release the aromas and tuck it into the glass.

Raspberry Ripple

Funnily enough, this one comes in FittaMamma pink too! A sophisticated little number that deserves to be served in a cocktail glass, a lush, alcohol free cocktail that’s perfect for parties!  Cocktail shaker at the ready!

  • 50ml of Borrago #47 Paloma Blend
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 20 ml raspberry syrup (the best quality you can find – or make your own!)
  • I egg white (or vegan friendly foamer)

Method:

Add all the ingredients to a ice filled shaker and shake hard for five seconds.  Shake hard a second time without the ice (reverse dry shake) and pour into a chilled cocktail glass.

A Bloody Borrago

Missing a Bloody Mary?  You won’t when you try this version ….and on a virtuous note, the tomato juice makes it a healthy cocktail treat for pregnant women!  Tomatoes, even when mixed in a drink and garnished with ice,  are packed with nutrients, including a generous dose of Vitamin C and plenty of lycopene which can reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia.  Who would have thought it eh!  Cheers

  • 50ml Borrago #Paloma Blend
  • 200ml Tomato juice
  • 25ml Lemon juice
  • 4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 dashes Tabasco Sauce
  • A good grind of pepper
  • Pinch of celery salt

Method:  Put all the ingredients in an ice filled glass and stir well.  Adjust the seasonings to taste.  Garnish with a celery stick and some wedges of lemon
