This smoothie is perfect for your pregnancy diet, great for nausea, indigestion and huge vitamin c booster! It’s also delicious and super easy to make

A quick easy smoothie that gives you a big hit of Vitamin C. This one has pineapples in abundance, teamed with coconut water and fresh zingy root ginger – a great combo as part of your healthy pregnant diet.

Ingredients

One cup of fresh (or tinned) pineapple roughly chopped
Approx 1” of fresh root ginger grated
Coconut water
A handful of ice
Sprig of mint

Method

Put the chopped pineapple and root ginger into your smoothie maker and add enough coconut water to cover. Add a few cubes of ice and whizz until smooth.
Pour into a glass, decorate with a sprig of mint and enjoy.

Pineapple for your healthy pregnancy diet:

  • One cup of pineapple contains more than 130% of your daily Vitamin C needs
  • Pineapples have a high fibre content so can aid digestion
  • There was an old wives tale that eating pineapple can bring on labour – but don’t worry – it’s an old wives tale. Pineapples DO contain bromelain, which is thought to help soften your cervix, but you would need to eat around 7 – 10 pineapples in one sitting before it had any effect.
