Fit Pregnancy Inspiration - Dame Sarah Storey

Paralympian Cyclist

Sarah Storey is a multiple gold medal winner at the Paralympic Games, competing initially as a swimmer and then subsequently as a cyclist.  A world record breaker, she has clocked up fourteen gold medals making her Britain’s most successful female Paralympian.  She is also mother to two children, continuing to train throughout both her pregnancies.

Sarah’s tips for training during pregnancy

Staying fit and healthy in pregnancy is important for so many reasons.  Your baby will benefit from you being fit and healthy as they are less likely to struggle with their own weight as they grow. It's important to be safe, not overheat or get dehydrated but don't be afraid to raise your heart rate if you feel comfortable doing so.

How our maternity fitness clothes worked for Sarah Storey

The combination of top and leggings provides maximum support for baby bump, back and boobs – but also allows a high level of flexibility, perfect for cycling during pregnancy.  The smooth seam construction of FittaMamma garments helps minimise chafing when cycling.

Sarah says:

‘Exercise helps with confidence and the endorphins provide that sense of happiness and calm. Listening to your body, wearing suitable clothing and having a smile on your face are my 3 top tips for exercise in pregnancy.’
